Learn More About Farmersville, Ohio
Farmersville, Ohio is a historical and pleasant village of approximately 1009 people located in southwestern Montgomery County. Farmersville has a quality school system, a beautiful park, hometown friendly atmosphere, along with a medical center, various businesses, and churches.
The present Village of Farmersville was plotted in 1832 by store and tavern owner Oliver Dalrymple. He named it in honor of his friends and neighbors who were tillers of the soil. On March 7, 1845 the Village was incorporated by a special act of the Ohio legislature. It is probably most famous for the “Bottle Farm” that was located just outside of town and was owned by a rather eccentric individual named Winter “Zero” Swartsel. A bottle hoarder, he would hang his collection on posts, buggies, and metal sculptures throughout his property and it became a popular tourist attraction in the early part of the 1900s. His property is now a local park owned by the township.
