Fairborn is located in southwest Ohio between Dayton and Cincinnati along I-675 (Ohio Turnpike) at exit 17/18. It was founded as an Ohio National Guard Camp during World War II when land was donated by Mr. & Mrs. Austin Tipps along with some other local farmers for use as training site for soldiers from around the world who were stationed here during their stay in Ohio before being shipped out overseas for combat duty in Europe or the Pacific areas during World War II.
After World War II ended most of these soldiers returned home but many chose to remain in this area due to its pleasant climate where they could enjoy
